CBC Fremantle gentlemen were recognised for their commitment to excellence at the College's Awards Evening on Sunday.
The Bob Rose'Meyer Gymnasium was full of proud parents and family members eager to celebrate the commitment to personal excellence of more than 130 CBC young men in the fields of faith, academics, art, sport, vocational education, leadership and community.
Guests were welcomed with performances from the Jazz Orchestra featuring Year 12 Kyan Mathews on vocals, in his final performance for the College. Masters of Ceremony were Leo, Micah and William Renton whose humour added a light touch to the evening.
Medals and certificates were presented to students who received the highest mark in each subject and the Dux and Proxime Accessit in each year group.
The Jazz Orchestra showcased their tight skills throughout the evening, including an excellent version of Sweet Caroline by Neil Diamond, which had some staff swaying in their seats!
College Principal, Ms Jenny Knox addressed the gathering, emphasising the importance of working together as a community to help our gentlemen achieve their best.
College Captain and Vice-Captain for 2024 Micah Renton and Jackson Mithen, stepped up to receive their badges of office from this year's leaders, Jack Sullivan, and Thomas Stipinovic.
In addition to subject awards, dozens of students received special presentations for Community Leadership, Catholic Leadership and the House Rotary Awards, paying tribute to the diverse leadership challenges that were accepted by our students throughout the year.
A variety of other awards were also presented to students who excelled in various areas of College life, including Vocational Education and Training, the Arts and Sport.
The Year 12 Awards were then announced by Deputy Principal Mr Scott McDonnell. The Vocational Pathway Proxime Accessit was presented to Luke Farinola, and the Dux was awarded to Liam Jaeger. The ATAR Pathway Proxime Accessit was awarded to Harrison Ricci and the Year 12 Dux of the College for 2023 was presented to Samuel Pittard.
Last but definitely not least, eight very special graduates from the Class of 2023 received the highest accolade of the College as the recipients of this year's Edmund Rice Awards.
Luca Bertolini, Luke Farinola, Aidan Nigli, Samuel Pittard, Harrison Ricci, Vincent Robertson, Thomas Stipinovic, and Jack Sullivan were recognised for their commitment to becoming a CBC gentleman and supporting their peers to do the same. The Edmund Rice Awards are the College's highest honour and are awarded to Year 12 students who best model the teachings of Christ.
"These gentlemen have taken the charism of Blessed Edmund Rice into their hearts and have served as role models and leaders for their peers, and for students who follow on from them," Ms Jenny Knox said.
All students at CBC Fremantle are encouraged and supported to take the steps necessary to walk across the stage at the Awards Evening, regardless of ability or interests. The array of awards presented on the night reflect the diverse interests and talents of CBC students, to provide every boy with the opportunity to be recognised for giving their best throughout the year.
Parents will be sent a link to purchase professional images taken in approximately 10 business days after the event.
