It was with both pride and a touch of nostalgia that the CBC community gathered this morning to bid farewell to the outstanding young men of the Class of 2023 as they marked their last official day of Year 12.
The day commenced in the familiar way it has for the past six years for these soon-to-be graduates, with a visit to their Mentor Groups. These groups, which have provided support and camaraderie throughout their time at CBC, held a special place in their hearts, and the morning was filled with laughter, reminiscences, and heartfelt farewells.
The formalities began reverently with a liturgy held in the Blessed Edmund Chapel. During this ceremony, Fremantle Parish Priest, Fr Slawek, urged the boys to not give up during life and 'fight the good fight' in challenging times.
As the Class of 2023 gathered in the Bob Rose'Meyer Gymnasium, where they first walked in as Year 7 students almost six years ago, a profound sense of nostalgia filled the air. This was a poignant moment that signified the end of one chapter and the start of another.
During the assembly, the College took a moment to honor some of its most exceptional Year 12 students, recognizing their achievements over the past year. These young men received Colours and Honours for their outstanding attitudes towards learning and their unwavering dedication to academic and co-curricular excellence.
In a reflective address, College Captain Jack Sullivan and Vice-Captain Thomas Stipinovic shared their reflections on the transformative journey of the last six years. They spoke about how their experiences at CBC have shaped them into the exceptional young gentlemen they are today, ready to embrace the future with determination and resilience. Their memories included ballroom dancing lessons, The Rite Journey and the Mentor Futsal competition. They concluded that the Class of 2023 leaves confident in the knowledge that the values of the CBC gentlemen have been instilled in them.
In a touching gesture reminiscent of an act of camaraderie earlier in the year, the Year 7 students created a guard of honor for the Class of 2023 as they left their final assembly. It was a moment filled with pride and emotion as these young men walked tall and proud, a testament to the remarkable individuals they have become.
With this milestone behind them, our ATAR students are now turning their attention to the upcoming exams, knowing that their CBC community stands with them as they embark on this final academic challenge.
As they close this chapter, let us remember that the journey of these young gentlemen is far from over, and the College community is excited to see the remarkable paths they will forge.
