1h1a2634.jpgCBC House spirit was on full display last week, with House Week providing plenty of healthy competition for boys of all ages.

Anticipation was building well in advance of the popular week, which is chock-full of fun challenges that encourage participation from boys of all ages and talents.

A festive atmosphere prevailed, with boys able to wear their House sport uniform all week for comfort during the planned activities and to bring the focus onto the colours of the clans.

The traditional House Week breakfast brought droves of CBC families eager to enjoy the delicious food and drinks available and spend some quality time with their boys before school. The CBC Jazz Orchestra entertained the crowds with Old Boy Lachie Glover joining the boys with virtuoso trumpet playing, Year 7 parents were then invited to attend Mentor Group with their sons, getting to know the routine of school and how important this daily gathering is for building relationships and feeling a sense of belonging.

Daily games in the Cloisters roused House spirit, with giant Jenga, Connect 4 and Cornhole competitions raising points to go towards the coveted Wedd Cup.

Tuesday lunchtime amped up the volume with the Battle of the Bands rocking the ALA. With musicians, Seth Telling, Harrison Ricci and Peter Bosco playing piano solos, performances from the Year 9 and Year 10 student bands and Luca Bertolini singing solo, the boys earned points for their House using their own unique talents. Well done, gentlemen!

Then came the event that everybody was waiting for – the annual King of the Cloisters. In the lightning-paced race, students covered head-to-toe in safety gear flew around the edge of the Cloisters, cheered on by hundreds of students keen to see their House reign supreme.

The week is an important one for Year 7 students, who can continue to consolidate new friendships through the host of activities on offer, while also finding their own way of giving their best at the College.
The week also helps boys develop a stronger connection with other students in their House, which can be an invaluable support network during their time at CBC.

Points for participation in the week's activities will go towards each House's Wedd Cup totals, as boys compete for the pride of lifting the coveted trophy at the end of the year with the knowledge that every little bit they gave helped their House towards victory.
