Last week the red carpet was rolled out for the opening of the CBC Fremantle Visual Art Exhibition opening, showcasing the creative talents of students in Years 7 through to 12.
Quality artwork from the studio areas of painting, sculpture, printmaking, drawing and photography was on display in the Year 12 Learning Centre, with some intriguing music videos screening, produced by our Media Arts students.
Entertainment for the evening was provided by Harrison Ricci, with piano tunes providing a perfect backdrop to the occasion.
Year 11 students Kyan Matthews, Darcy Osborne and Matthew Sapienza hosted the formal proceedings, inviting Principal Mr Domenic Burgio on stage to present the Certificates of Excellence to boys who have demonstrated outstanding efforts in Visual Art throughout the year.
A special mention goes to Seth Galipo, who won the Principal's Award for his pencil drawing of a grandfather and baby. Mr Burgio applauded Seth's ability to capture the emotion and essence of a Nonno's love, saying that he saw himself in the beautiful sketch.
A special mention went to Year 10 Tiernan Lyne, which also earned an award at the Catholic Arts Angelico exhibition.
A big thank you to members of the Parent Auxiliary, who were on hand to assist with refreshments, and Year 11 Art students who were instrumental in the exhibition installation and set up on the night.
Congratulations to all of the students whose work was exhibited, and to Ms Zoe Francis, Ms Carmen Stewart and Mrs Michelle Timms for their stunning installation and attention to detail. Particular mention to Mr Roman Gabriel from the Maintenance crew who produced interesting plinths and display stands out of recycled material for the exhibition.
