COVID-19 update - Monday 4 April 2022

Dear Families of CBC Fremantle

I hope you are all safe and well. As we approach the holidays, I would like to provide a final COVID-19 update for the term.

The College has recorded 129 COVID-19 positive cases in our community since the beginning of the Omicron outbreak in WA. There are currently 31 active cases amongst students and staff. There were just over 70 students absent today for COVID-related reasons.

The current cases across year groups are: 11 x Year 7 students, 5 x Year 8 students, 7 x Year 9 students, 3 x Year 10 students, and 3 x Year 12 students.

Attached is the Catholic Education Western Australia (CEWA) School Operating Guidelines for Term 2. While we will be operating in the Very High Caseload Level 1 Guidelines, there is some easing of restrictions. Year level assemblies and some larger events can take place, and parents are able to come onsite for events and parent/teacher interviews. Mask wearing is here to stay for a little longer, and Mentor Groups will continue in the horizontal format. There are also more opportunities for sport, rehearsals and performances.

The College has sought to make school life as normal as possible for students this year. Where an event or programme cannot go ahead, our aim is always to reschedule or reimagine rather than cancel. Our modified TRJ Opening Ceremony, House swimming carnivals and Share the Journey are all examples of this. The College Ball will go ahead on 22 July, which I am sure is welcome news for our Year 12 students.

Please continue to use the self-reporting portal to record COVID-19 results via this Link for all positive student cases including during the school holidays.

Please continue to encourage your son to wear his mask correctly and explain the importance of doing so, keep him well-stocked with masks and do not send him to school if he is unwell.

I would like to again thank our entire community for the support, care and help provided in keeping the school safe for students and staff.

If you need support, advice or assistance, please be in touch. You can reach me directly on 0499 020 226 and or contact College Principal Mr Burgio on 0400 880 861.

Wishing you all a blessed Easter and joyful holiday.

Kind regards

Ms Jenny Knox
Vice Principal
