It was a day to remember on Friday as CBC Fremantle celebrated the feast day of its founder.
Edmund Rice Day honours the founder of the Christian Brothers, Blessed Edmund Rice, whose birthday falls in June.
The day began with a liturgy in the gym as students, staff and the community came together to commence the day with prayer.
After a short break for recess, the action continued at Fremantle Oval, with the College's top runners going head-to-head in a battle of the Houses, with sprinters tackling the Paull Gift, while long-distance runners took on the Murray Mile. Both races are named after Christian Brothers who have made a big impact on the College.
Then it was into the Cloisters for the festival, with each Mentor Group finding unique ways of raising money to be allocated to various good causes and charities.
The crowd-pleasing rides and fun activities were kept busy by eager students throughout the day, and there were plenty of food stalls to feed the hungry boys.
The ever-popular Dunk Tunk sent a few teachers into its icy depths by a well-aimed throw, and the College's World's Greatest Shave saw more than 40 boys facing the clippers wielded by Miss Gordon to raise money for vital leukaemia research.
The weather was spectacular and the event wound up at 2.30 for an early start to the weekend.
While also a day of fun and friendship, Edmund Rice Day provides an important opportunity to reflect on the life and legacy of Blessed Edmund and the Christian Brothers around the world who continue his legacy.
